DISCOVER GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOLS
We built this community around great schools. It's as important to us as it is to you. On any given day in Meridian Ranch, you'll see children riding bikes to neighborhood schools where parents are involved in an exceptional process encompassing all aspects of their children's education. District 49, one of the fastest growing districts in the nation, is experiencing a virtual renaissance that is starting to attract attention. The changes are coming fast and at the core of each are the absolute best practices and strategies for success in academics, sports and citizenship The exciting new changes begin with Meridian Ranch Elementary School, currently undergoing the certification process for International Baccalaureate (IB). IB offers high quality programs of international education to a worldwide community of schools. The purpose of the program is to develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. The newly remodeled Falcon Middle School is the perfect bridge between the IB program in elementary school and the information technology program at Falcon High School. With their required math and science classes in middle school thoughtfully mapped out, students acquire a strong foundation for the technical courses they will pursue in high school. Falcon High School opened its doors in Meridian Ranch in October 2007 at its new location off Eastonville Road north of Londonderry. Situated on 70 beautiful acres, the school measures an impressive 170,000 square feet and is home to the largest Air Force Junior ROTC program in the state. In cooperation with University of Colorado and Pikes Peak Community College, Falcon High School offers an Information Technology program featuring state-of-the-art equipment and teaching methods that lead to a variety of certifications. Regardless of their educational pursuits beyond high school, students gain valuable real-world experience with these and other IT courses. Another groundbreaking program, the Health Academy, includes vocational training such as Certified Nurses Aide and Emergency Medical Technician courses resulting in vocational certifications in these fields. This translates directly into jobs in the health care industry immediately upon graduation. Additionally, students who complete the Health Academy curriculum may apply for reserved slots (normally a 2-3 year waiting period) at Pikes Peak Community College to continue their health-related education. Meridian Ranch's newest addition, The Pikes Peak School of Expeditionary Learning is a charter school offering a personal and direct learning experience each time the class embarks on a learning expedition. The expedition might be to ancient Egypt or the stars, but one thing is certain; students will actively participate in a discussion that draws simultaneously upon all subjects and completely immerses them in thought.
